I've had the sensors out 3 separate times. The sensor cans are (were?)unmarked no scratches/ gougings that would be direct evidence of your suggestions. Oddly? my sensors, all of them, go in and out very easily, no sticking at all. Their plastic sleeves are working well.
There is no (rocking) play in the wheel bearings whatsoever.. And I've tried yanking at 12 and 6 o clock on the unloaded tires vigourously.
I have not checked (yet) if the bearings have/allow any in out play.
Will have to think up a test procedure involving a dial gauge I suppose :-)
I could have the local Indie, Tech2 the thing but last time he fooled with a tech 2 ( to reset the SRS light) he also turned off my driver's door open pictogram.
Not keen on letting him at it again :-)
Have been through the wiring and All contacts are seemingly good and were cleaned & lubed.
As per your symptoms description, I've recently been getting an sporadic ABS activation, after first or second brake application from first start of the day.. always at 5 mph or less.. Very odd. Perhaps something is now bridging the gap. Bits of Ground up Brake rotor perhaps??
As I just the other day refreshed the rear brakes (Rotors, Pads, Caliper rebuild) necessitated by seeing their condition after 4 years of use.. since their last redo.
Maybe I'll go into the front ones, as I prefer all wheels to get fresh brakes concurrently and try to get at the Tone ring/sensor.
Maybe I'll spot something obvious.. that I missed previously.
Metal fur on the Sensor would be reassuring if not good :-)
Pesky car is more demanding than a Girlfriend.. sans the obvious benefits.
