Broken pressure plate & warped flywheel Posted by Daven [Email] (#290) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Daven) on Wed, 25 Jan 2012 20:19:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So my dad's '95 cse turbo stops shifting gears without warning. Won't go in or out with the engine running. I think its the slave but that's working perfectly. Turns out its the trans. Once its out you can see the pressure plate is in two pieces and with a straightedge you can see the flywheel is warped and full of long cracks that can't be ground out.
Anyone ever heard of this before? Car, trans and flywheel have 275k but the clutch and pressure plate have maybe 50k. What could cause this? My dad is an exellent driver, conservative and careful with his saabs.
