It was much harder on the earlier 9000's Posted by John Fitzgerald [Email] (#77) [Profile/Gallery] (more from John Fitzgerald) on Wed, 28 Mar 2012 21:17:02 In Reply to: Heater Core And Blower Motor Done, Some Thoughts. Good for you for tackling it yourself. The split firewall helps, as does some of the engine compartment layout.
It is a good layout. The core will be buried no matter what, unless it's an old pickup truck. Don't want to do most new cars, either.
I've done several ... I think two on an 86 and 87, and two 97's. Been a long time since doing the early ones, but I do recall the relief when I started on the 97. Seems like I had to remove the wiper motor on the old ones ... the tech manual used to have you start w/ pulling the hood, and I seem to recall loosening the flexible coupler on the intake manifold, too ... maybe ... idk, but bet you're glad its done.
