It's been a long time since I worked on a Saab from that era, but as I remember what you do is remove the access cover in the "trunk" floor, remove the locking ring holding the pump assembly into the tank, then lift out the whole thing (disconnecting wiring and fuel lines too of course). The "pump assembly" consists of the main pump sitting in a plastic mini-tank (about the size of a quart paint can) and the pre-pump is held with a bracket to the outside of the mini-tank. It's pretty easy to replace without disturbing the main pump.
