I wish you the best of luck but that's a good one. Saabs' wheel paint has always impressed the heck out of me, alloys on 20+ year old cars that look almost like new, very tough, corrosion resistant and durable.
They have an epoxy under primer and a very good top coat, baked on I would venture, if not powdercoated. And wheels can suffer extreme scouring from mud and sand as well as heavy salt contamination, and the attack from iron particles bonding to the finish from brake dust.
Spray can paint is pretty low solids stuff, and the binder doesn't come near what the factory wheel paint had in it. Dries very porous and not very well bound together. But at least it's cheap and easy to re-do.
