I had one come apart on me 3 1/2 hours from home. I had five Saabs prior to that with no
Harmonic balancer issues. You can replace it yourself, as it's a fairly simple job. Or, it might last a while. I'd ask your mechanic if he's seen a lot of failures. It doesn't seem to be that common.
