I once thought as apparently you do.....why use the dino oil called for in the driver's manual when the synthetic has gotta be way better, I mean hey it's a saab product so its gotta be great!.........WRONG. I tried it in my 97CS very nice shifting manual tranny a few years ago at about 85k miles and within 500 miles I was getting a whining noise. I soon thereafter changed it back to 10W30 or 40 and within say 50 miles the whining went away. I then did two more changes over the next 6 months to get as much of the crappy saab synthetic out as possible. My belief is that the synthetic does not have sufficient viscosity for this use, might as well pour water in the transm case. Highly! recommend you stick with, and perform frequent transm oil changes with 10W30 or 40 dino. I wonder how many 9000's are in junkyards caused by this saab product?
