So far (touch wood) whenever I have suspected a bad wheel bearing(s) my supicions have been confirmed. I replaced the front hubs recently and I might have a useful tip (maybe everybody else already does it this way): I didn't remove the swivel member to do the job because my abs sensors looked too fragile, instead I cut down an Allen key to undo the socket cap screws holding the hubs to the swivel member. It saved a lot of time I am sure. The only downside is you can't use a torque wrench on the screws when install your new hubs, you have to find a short section of tube (I used the handle of my hydraulic jack) to adequately tighten the screws. Truth is I only used the pipe to exert enough force on the screws when after a couple of months after I did the job the screws on one of the hubs had started to loosen (no comments please!).
