I also have a 97 that has seeped intermittently from the block connection since 1999. It was seeping at 22K when it was purchased. The O-ring pipe or coupler has become corroded from the seeping coolant and needs to be replaced, a new pipe is on a 6 month back order. Many years ago I had the pump off and on 3 times before the seeping was stopped by applying red RTV the O-ring groves and bores of the block and water pump. Well, it turns out red RTV is not resistant to antifreeze long term, the seeping would return in a few years. I am now looking for a new or clean used coupler pipe, and to replace the red RTV with the grey coolant resistant RTV, #22071. According to Permatex's literature this is their most antifreeze resistant RTV.
It appears there maybe some problem with the bore in the engine block, that does not allow a good long term seal. Through cleaning of the block bore does not seem to help, or reveal any problem with the bore in the block. Any help with obtaining a new or clean tube or coupler (# 9137514) would be appreciated, most of the common after market Saab parts houses do not have the coupler.
