ghost in the machine ....err...radio Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Tue, 29 Jan 2013 11:28:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello fellow Saabers,
I got in my 97 Aero this morning, fired her up, waited the minute or two until my low oil pressure light went out, :-O ,and drove off. My radio was playing the sweet sounds of the AM band traffic report when, suddenly, it turned itself off. The display went out and the antenna retracted. I said to myself, "Funny, I don't remember turning the radio off?" About 15 seconds later, it turned itself back on. It stayed on for about 15 seconds, and shut off again. It did this for about 10 minutes and stayed on progresssively longer until (I assume) it got warm enough to stay on for the rest of my hour-and-a-half commute. The radio has been sounding extra-crappy for the last couple weeks when I first start the car up in the morning and it's COOOLD. It's on AM so it sounds pretty crappy anyway. Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on? This is the H-K sound system, of course. I have (2) earlier model systems out of my 90 and 93.....figures. I tried popping out the removable keypad on the faceplate and pushing on the faceplate to see it it wasn't making good contact in the DIN housing. No dice.
