My 96 Aero stage 6 is now randomly dying at idle. it's never done this before. The two codes are P0172 and P0300 which is rich bank 1 and random misfire. Here's some facts:
1) DI is 70k miles old. Replaced the spark plugs and checked gap.
2) Tested the EVAP purge valve (27 ohms and closed)but could be bad?
3) In 2010 I had the siemens deka 60lb injectors tested and balanced.
4) Swapped FPR, don't see any gas out of vacuum hose. But can't be 100% positive.
5) Did a fuel pressure test and leak down. This had really strange and inconsistent results. When running the pressure is at 38-39 psi at idle. However, it instantly drops to 0 when I turn off the car. But, not everytime. On some tests it drops to about 30 psi instantly. This is on both FPR.
6) Battery voltage is ok.
7) I rebuilt the engine last year but didn't have this issue after the rebuild.
8) The most recent thing i did to the car was replace the exhaust manifold gasket to fix the exhaust leak. But now this is how my car wants to repay me :)
Anyways, the fuel pressure test is suspect, but the car doesn't have any issue restarting which would indicate an issue with holding pressure.
i would think if the injectors were leaking i would smell something and see smoke out of the tailpipe?
The symptoms to me would make sense if the FPR was leaking fuel into the intake
Any suggestions?
