This was the first repair I ever did on my 1990 9Ks, back when it was a young pup with 145,000 miles. Straight from the Haynes manual, first step... remove the bonnet. (Really? What the hell am I getting into here?) Needless to say, I went through the regular cursing and skinned up hands and forearms. When I was done, I was very relieved, and very self-satisfied. Until I noticed the little plastic baggie with the new heather core o-rings in it sitting next to the tool box...
Heater core came back out the next day to fix my mistake, and it did go a little more quickly that time.
