I just did this on my '94 w/ 203K Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sun, 25 Aug 2013 17:16:58 In Reply to: I just did this on my '93 w/ 208K last month, Daryle [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 23 Aug 2013 13:09:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had poly bushings before, but changed back to normal rubber bushings when they started squeaking loudly after a few years. The Febi Bilstein rubber bushings were only four years and 30,000 miles old, but the front end was clunking over bumps. All other parts were new, i.e. ball joints, struts, strut bearings, swaybar links, bushings caps, so it had to be the bushings - and it was. The bushings I removed had NO visible damage or wear, but the rubber must have deteriorated/softened up.
I used Febi Bilstein rubber bushings again, as eEuro told me that they are higher quality than the cheapies that they carry. I guess that these are now going to be a regular maintenance item, as I don't see that anyone carries the genuine SAAB part. If I ever have to do this job again, I may switch back to poly, as I did enjoy the better steering response, however I have a feeling that this is the last time I am doing bushings on this car.
