Electrical dropout – radio, tach, occasional stumble

I while ago I occasionally had electrical dropout in radio then would see tach bounce but only did it a couple of times. All other gauges seemed fine. Normal drive to work is 20 minutes but went to another location 50 miles away last weekend. Around 30 minutes into drive radio started dropping out and tach needle bounced which seemed like every couple of minutes or maybe 5 or 10 i.e. sporatic. I think I felt the engine stumble a couple of times but usually didn’t feel it stumble. It started doing it when it was dry and hot (low 90’s) with only A/C & radio on. I drove into a rain/thunderstorm near end of commute (about 15 minutes) turned on lights & windshield washers didn’t seem to make any difference. I don’t remember doing it on my way home the next day. When I got home I sanded both positive & negative terminal so they are now shiny only minor normal oxidation before. I would think radio & tach are on different circuits. Any idea what could be causing this?
