I had the same problem on my '97 Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Sun, 1 Sep 2013 19:06:12 In Reply to: auto trans fluid cooler hose leak on '98cse, mcm, Sun, 1 Sep 2013 18:06:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Same problem on mine, it was the metal pipe that rotted out. Nothing special to replacement. You don't have to take the radiator out. There is a 10mm bolt that holds the pipe to a mount at the bottom of the radiator, but you can get at it. Seals are the same as the large fuel filter seals.
As I recall the other hose does not have a metal line exposed to road salt so you should not have the same problem there. However due to age and mileage it is probably best to replace both.
You can get a good used hose that has solid metal and fittings and have it repaired at a hydraulic hose shop with new rubber.
