The picture with your hand in it: You're pretty much right.
The arrow at the valve cover is the PCV (positive crankcase vent) port. The valve goes in the line between the small port on the fitting, and one of the intake-manifold fittings, allowing air from the PCV into the manifold but, critically, not from the manifold back into the crankcase.
The one with the 'Y' must be splitting between the gauge in the dash, and the BPV (bypass valve, or diverter valve).
