Assuming we're only talking 4cyl engines...
1993 is not compatible with anything later - this year was a hard cutoff. In 1994 the bellhousing and castings changed (first year of the NG900).
the 1994 box should fit so long as the CDE is a full pressure turbo. N/A and LPT cars kept the smaller inner-drivers - but those can be swapped. otherwise all post-1994 boxes are more or less compatible.
