Intermittent, significant coolant leak

May seem like an oxymoron, but I have a significant coolant leak that tends to only appear after short drives on my '98 9000CSE. I drove the car to/from work for a few days a week or so ago and while the coolant level dropped a little (almost barely noticeable) when my wife drives it on short around town trips and then parks it at home it will literally dump a fair amount of coolant. The leak is external and by the time I've been able to look at it is basically gone. The times it has done this I could see it dripping from the short hose between the intake and turbo line, but I'm sure it's not coming from there. I also saw a bit of coolant sitting on the tranny cover. I replaced the heater inlet hose recently as that had been a leak source, but it's not from there as the hose is dry and tight. Perhaps the banjo bolt going to the head? There's no smell of coolant in the passenger compartment either so I'm pretty sure it's not the heater coil. Any ideas?
