Exhaust and CEL updates Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Thu, 18 Jun 2015 10:49:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All,
This is just a followup on two threads I started: the one on "CEL + P0130 and P0133 codes" and the catback exhaust one.
I ended up pulling the entire exhaust from the car. The catback part needed replacing - I already knew that. But the front part turned out to have tiny leaks all over the place - a cracked weld here, a rusted joint there. I didn't count but there were probably 10 separate places you could have stuck a pin through.
So I replaced darn near everything: the catback with the 2.5" BSR system from GenuineSaab, a new flex, new 3" performance cat, and some intermediate piping. The only things remaining from the old system are the JT downpipe forward of where the flex was and one bit of pipe in the middle that the rear O2 sensor screws into.
Outcome: 100% happiness! The exhaust is considerably quieter than the previous setup with the Saber catback (which itself wasn't that loud). And the CEL and codes are gone! I think that problem was caused by the leaks.
Here are a few photos if anyone's interested:
