...again, going by memory here, but I believe both the straight- and slant-front versions of the earlier, boxier body style used the cornering lights both with the turn signals and the reverse lights. Straight-front versions certainly did.
But they might be different bulbs/circuits, so if one isn't working it might just be a bulb issue.
Or I'm just remembering wrong. Again. :)
