I haven't posted in a while and have missed this place !!
Fortunately my beloved Aero is sitting on dry ground most of the time these days and remains fine, or as fine as it can be as a '94 with over 200K miles...
Here is the shortest I can tell this odd tale:
I was on the interstate, just cruising along one night and smelled wood burning; thought it must be from outdoors until miles had passed and it was still there and got even stronger.
Pulled over and had a good look all around and it seemed to be coming from under the hatch, but I could not pin it down. (Skipping ahead here...)
I finally found that the floor panel was charring and the fuel pump leads had gotten somewhat melted - figured it was an overcurrent situation and repaired & relocated those leads so that they could easily be seen from then on.
On my way back - burning wood again - and worse now too.
Then my brain kicked in and I crawled beneath for a look.
Did you guess the source of the problem ?!?
I needed a wall to bang my head upon after discovering that there was a very small exhaust leak at the very closest point to the metal decking - which had gotten so hot that it was almost setting the plywood afire.
(Skipping ahead a wee bit again here...)
After replacing the bad pipe all seemed well - except=>
My fuel gauge has been really strange ever since as well as the outside temp. measure and one other thing in the EDU that have either been really silly (like -69F, etc...) or they just read 'ERR', ever since then.
Mostly the fuel gauge tells me the tank is empty except during those few odd minutes when it reads correctly, then it drops all the way down.
I have zero idea how the temp. thing way up front could be affected by the fuel stuff way in back and wonder if anyone here has had similar things happen so as to maybe point me at what this about, please ??
None of it seems serious enough to worry about and I can live with it, but would still like to solve it if possible somehow.
Thanks from Vermont !!
