Howdy, Saabsters,
Glad to find you and all this most welcome and helpful information!
Aside from the annoying periodic inappropriate Pictogram flashes, other strange electrical things have recently begun happening. About a week ago, I began imagining that my headlights would go out when braking and/or signaling. Since I couldn't get it to repeat, I've tried chalking it up to my advancing age rather than the car's.
However, last week, I began noticing that my brake pedal presses no longer are accompanied by a subtle click somewhere behind the dash. I thought it was a microswitch on the brake pedal, but now I believe it is a relay of some sort, since there is no clicking switch on the brake pedal. I have taken out and tested the switch and it tests fine. (The fuse is fine, as are the bulbs, and none of the three lights work.)
So, now I've been looking for a common cause for these issues, and all I can think of is a bad ground somewhere and/or the pictogram filament monitor circuitry (which I cannot locate).
I would appreciate any help and/or pointers to information I can get.
Maurice
