Don't get too intimidated by the drawings. I can get in and out of the dash (with some practise) in about 25 minutes.
You can buy the bulbs from the dealer for about $5 each (yikes!). The alternative is to go to Radio Shack and get some 12V 60ma miniature wire-lead bulbs-Something under $2 for a pair. These are the bulbs I use for replacing most of the internal lights - the window switches for example.
The EDU bulbs come in a little plastic carrier, like a Christmas light. You can unbend the leads of the burned out bulb and replace it with the new bulb - reusing the carrier.
