Kind of strange symptoms. If you want to check the condition of the rings you can do a compression test or have a shop do one for a small fee. All the cylinders should be very close to each other and compression should build up quickly. If there is a big diference between cylinders or it takes several cranks to build up maximum pressure then your rings are hurting. To confirm this, put a teaspoon of motor oil in the questionable cylinders and re-do the test. If compression goes up markedly then your rings are probably worn. It sounds like your valve guides are OK (another common sourse of burning oil) as worn guides usually manifest themselves with smoke in the morning or when letting off the throttle.
While you have the plugs out for the compression test take a look at the top of the cylinders. If you see black sooty deposits then that indicates a lot of carbon build up. I'm not sure if it could really result in such frequent puffs of smoke but you never know. A bottle of good quality (like Chevron) fuel injector cleaner couldn't hurt. It's also possible the mixture is too rich, but that would be strange under full throttle as the computer goes into to open loop mode then.
There's no reason your car shouldn't go well beyond 200k without worn rings, but it depends on maintenance like regular oil changes.
Good luck!
Craig
