Sorry 'bout this. This should've been ONE message...
So what are the other 4(!) wires for? I've owned a 87 9k turbo (US model) and a 92 CSE turbo, they all had the exact same connectors. Only difference I've found so far is the Saab speakers, the 87 uses different ones in the rear. In Europe (or at least in the Netherlands, but hey, we're cheap...) it's common to sell or trade in your car without a stereo system because you can easily use it in your next car, except for custom fit speakers of course. So not many Saab's have the Saab system in them, they were too expensive (we're cheap, remember?) or the owner already had a system from his previous car (also very common to get it for free if you buy the car, but it'll be a cheap one...).
