Clutch chatter is almost always related to liquid on the clutch disc, specifically oil; if the rear main seal leaks, the clutch will almost certainly chatter. Another cause is hot spots on the flywheel - localized overheated spots that turn blu-ish. The hot spots get extremely hard and that causes the flywheel to wear unevenly. This can be caused by slipping the clutch a lot (as in, repeated racing starts). But usually the culprit is oil. Exception: When you wash the engine/trans/engine bay down, the 9000 clutch will chatter for a couple of days afterward until everything dries out. I mentioned clutch chatter to Robert Davis and he said his chattered after hosing the engine down. Son of a gun, that's what caused mine too, and it does go away shortly there-after. That's not a problem. Chronic clutch chatter sure is irritating though. Look for oil leaks.
