Well, there's the time involved in pulling the engine/transaxle unit -
I suppose with a garage and lift available that could be done in a
morning - I did it in my driveway with an engine hoist. The problem
area was the gas/clutch/brake pedal assembly. It's held on with four
bolts that run through the master cylinder. That wasn't a problem:
there's one more bolt that is hidden above the metal structure that
supports the steering column. It's a real b***h to get at - Houdini
would have been proud of me. Even with the dash cover removed it's
almost impossible to get to if you have paws like me! Everything else
is pretty straight forward. There's a connector that goes to the shifter
that will have to have a jumper wire connected: this went to the starter
circuit so the vehicle wouldn't turn over in anything other than park or
neutral. Also, make sure that the bearing support bracket that connects
the intermediate shaft gets changed, otherwise you'll be breaking those
shafts every thousand miles or less - I knew this beforehand, but,
unfortunately, I didn't check the part number on the bracket (it should
have an "M" not "A" stamped after the no.) the salvage yard gave me.
3 intermediate shafts later I checked the no's :o(
