Thanks to all who responded to my last post. I checked the fluid level last night and it would appear that I have an over full trans. I will double check and remedy tonight. I have made an appointment for servicing but the soonest I could get was nov 8th. With the car I recieved extensive records going back to about 60k and the transmission has been serviced and maintained religeously. My question is, what actualy goes wrong with these things? I keep hearing that they are prone to failure but I never hear which parts fail and what happens to them to result in an inop transmission. In other vehicles the addition of an external cooler can help. Are there any suggested modifications that may help? This transmission started to shift early for the previous owner and the repair was to replace some governor seals. This would suggest to me that governor seals are a potential weakness that doesent nessesarily have to result in total failure. At this point I must point out that this is the first A/T that I have owned and on the subject I have no idea what I am talking about. That said I am trying to arm myself with the most information I can collect. I hope through all of my rambling someone sees this and has answers. Thank you again to those who suggested a course of action reguarding my slipping 4th gear problem. I'll let you Know how it plays out.
