These cars definetly aren't fazed by high mileage, assuming maintenance has been up to par. That said, I'm sure you are familiar with the automatic transmision problems that many have experienced. The car with the lower mileage could theoretically go an extra 30k before the tranny expires. But maybe the higher mileage car has only seen synthetic fluid and it has been changed every 15k while the lower mileage car is still on the factory fill. You never know. That's why maintenance records are so helpful. That way you also know what expensive parts have or have not been changed already, such as the DI, head gasket, motor mounts etc. I would almost be inclined to go for the higher mileage car because $2k can cover a lot of repairs, as Aero Guy mentioned. But the lower mileage car is something of a safer better, perhaps especially with the auto box. Perhaps an extended warrenty would bring piece of mind in either case.
Just some thoughts.
Craig
