I agree, trannies in most saabs are not up to snuff with the rest of the car OR a Tercel for that matter. BUT, that being said, part of being a true Saab guy is being able to shift one well. If you hit the RPM's just right, get the right amount of clutch, keep the gas on the right amount, hit the shifter at the right speed, and you can make some pretty nice shifts. You can do all that too and still end up flailing and looking like an idiot :)
Take some work off the tranny though and improve your shift technique, make the synchros work less by keeping your tranny speed closer to engine speed, get better at double clutching, etc.
it sux, if i could put a toyota or honda trans in a 9K, i would do it in a second!
