The weak link in that hose is where it connects to the head. The rest of the hose should be pretty sound. You'll probably have to get a Saab hose, because it's specially flaired where it connects to the head, although some of the third party places probably have it. You probably won't get it at Auto Zone though. I would splice it at some point. Have a look at the rest of the hose, but I think it will be pretty sound. You can splice it with a Prestone flush kit tee. I put mine toward the front, but I would recommend splicing it where it goes vertical in front of the false bulkhead. If you don't want to install a flush tee, a short piece if copper pipe wold do. I think 1/2 inch would fit.
If you try to go all the way back to the heater core, it will be a really big job. I just don't think it's necessary.
