Do you know any facts/figures about the EPROM chip replacements for the APC-DI? What I am after is a good source to find one for a good price. I want a good performing chip--one that changes the boost to at least 15 psi, eliminates automatic boost taper at higher RPM (unless there is predetonation), and changes the timing to optimize combustion.
I have already received an upgraded EPROM from Abbott and am sending it back today. The damn thing actually made me LOSE power. I ran ~1-2 psi more with my STOCK chip (all other things equal) than the upgraded one. The upgraded one still had the hated boost taper, too. So, completely dissatisfied, I called Abbott and the response I recieved was that the chip was not supposed to increase boost but rather allow for a higher fuel cutoff. Well, with my Manual Boost Controller (I disconnected it when I switched chips, I wanted to do a comparison w/o the MBC interfering) I have seen well over 15 psi without fuel cut, so I deemed that chip completely useless. I will not spend my good money to make my car LOSE power!!! That is ridiculous!!
