It depends - would you being doing this yourself, are you mechanically
inclined? You'd have to change the whole drivetrain: motor, transaxle,
driveshafts, etc. Around here (MA) the salvage yards have plenty of
Saab engines/trannys. One can usually find a low mileage engine for under
a grand - a transaxle will cost a grand. I'm sure you could negotiate a
package deal to get all the parts you'd need to do the conversion.
However, I think you're better off if you just sell it and
pick up a turbo. The turbo not only has more power but has a better
suspension, ACC, better radio, etc., etc. Unless you really love doing
those kind of conversions and don't mind a lot of wiring and mechanical
details, then I'd advise against the conversion
