My 87 9000t was a pain to get out. I ended up having the air conditioner section removed for more access. Yes, it involved having the freon drawn out and replaced. But I heard newer cars have more room so maybe it's possible without removing a/c. I didn't want to take chances with used motor so I ended up paying $200 for "motor assembly". I was very upset to find out "motor assembly" consists of only the motor and sqirrel cage fan. I assumed it was the motor and entire black plastic box! But once you do this job the first time, you won't want to do it again due to a faulty used fan. Oh, make sure those internal air flaps are closed before trying to remove the air box.
