To check the burn-off function-
Start the car, rev the engine to at least 2500 rpm for a second or two, let the revs drop back down to idle, the shut the engine off. About 4 seconds after shutoff, you'll see the filament glow. The engine speed has to exceed 2500 rpm to enable the burn-off function, the engine dosen't have to be shut off above 2500- that would be an unusual circumstance, and the burn-off wouldn't be activated very often.
To check the AMM, CAREFULLY peel back the protective boot on the connector. Connected a Digital multimeter (not analog)between pin 5 and ground, set to VOLTS. With the engine at idle, you should see around 2.1 volts. Rev the engine, and the voltage should increase.
What is the intermittent problem you're experiencing?
