>> ... all you need to do is talk with any professional engine rebuilder >> and get his opinion on dino vs. syn.
Biff, I have talked to many rebuilders and have yet to find one that sees things your way. There are a few old-school mechanics that poo-poo the benefits of synthetic oil simply because it wasn't available in 1955 when they disassembed their first engine, but I've never heard of one who tried to blame synthetic oil for valve train or any other engine malady. This is preposterous from a rational standpoint. You site one technician who thinks that synthetic oil is the devil's gift to mankind and the issue is terminated as far as you're concerned. I've *never* in 40 years of fondling, studying, and enjoying cars heard anything that even resembles what you are trying to perpetrate here.
You have yet to describe the specific valve-train problems you had and in what vehicles. Did I miss it in one of your posts? What part of the valve train? The valves? Camshaft? What exactly did you have repeated trouble with in three different cars? If there is a link between M1 and abnormal valve-train wear, why has it been kept a secret in the 30-year history of M1 in the marketplace? Don't you think this type of problem would surface in discussions somewhere, sometime in three decades?
Then, after you divulge that info, explain why you think synthetic oil caused the problem. How did you logically link the oil with the valve-train maladies? Please be specific.
>> The source of unspecified valve train wear is the lubricant failed to perform properly and it happened to my cars. It's fact not inaccurate information, I'm sure!!
I'm sure it *is* inaccurate, and I don't throw categorical statements of this sort around on these forums lightly. What is this "unspecified valve train wear"? Why is it unspecified? Don't you know what the problem was? How did the lubricant fail to perform properly and why? Have you attempted to investigate why, or are you taking the word of this one technician to blame M1 for your engine ills?
