First find out which hose is leaking. You will rarely find a leak in the tubing itself, usually the hose or hose end connectors will have the leak. Have the refrigerant drained and remove the hose assembly. Be sure to cap the connections to minimize air moisture from getting into the system. (System air dryer and refrigerant oil love to absorb moisture) Locate an automotive A/C specialty shop that has the capability to replace the hose. (Probably best to locate shop prior to hose assembly removal) Install repaired hose assembly using new o-rings on assembly end connections. Once re-installed, have system evacuated, verify that it holds vacuum and then charge with freon. System compressor oil will also have to be topped of for oil lost. Typically 15ml for hose replacement & 20ml for refrigerant drain.
Had similar work done on my A/C last week. Replaced three (3) hoses for $90.00 and paid $70.00 for evacuating & charging. (I supplied the R-12, removed and installed the hose assemblies my self.) Dealer parts cost was about $275 per hose assembly.
What year and model do you have? Does your A/C use R-12 or R134a? Consider converting if you have not yet done so.
