of WD-40 all around in the box and allow to dry all the moisture. You can remove the cover from the relay and CAREFULLY clean it too with WD-40 but do not plug in for a while. look at the points see if the water has arced them together clean with a Q tip in isopropyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol) allow to dry. I don't remember what we are working with and there are three configurations. One without time delay ,one with time delay and one with two speed fan system.
in case one (single speed fan system) check continuity across pin 30 and pin 87- should be open you should have resistance on pin 30 to 31 if you have time delay relay and and or pin 30 and 15 In case 2( two speed fan system) you should have no circuit between 30 and 87 and 87B but continuity between 85 and 86. You can pull fuse 8 and the two speed fan will quit on high speed. I am assuming we are talking about the coolant fan inside the engine compartment and not the air conditioning fan. There isn't any way possible for the fan to continue to run if these relays are good and the engine is cold. Another check is to remove the connector from the right side of the radiator the fan will continue to run if the relay is bad. what speed is the fan running in high or low speed? In your BTW i don't know which relay you are referring to.
