Ok, so I _was_ going to write about how smart I was and how silly everyone else was for not being able to press out the upper bushings. I _was_ going to brag about how I spent just $10 on parts down at Home Depot to fashion a gizmo that would quickly and easily pop out the upper torque arm bushings while still in the car. I _was_ going to photodocument the entire procedure to prove my superior intellect...
After my gizmo crumpled under the strain of trying to wrench out the top bushing (the one that _can_ easily be removed from the car as a separate arm), I decided I would just write about how easy it was to use a blowtorch to heat the arm and knock out the bushing. After almost setting the cat on fire, I stopped thinking I was so smart and decided I'd write an _amusing_ anecdote about how I had to hammer the bushing out with as much force as I could.
After 2 hours of hammering and bending one side of the bushing housing completely flat, I stopped taking photos. After an hour of failed drilling attempts, prying and slicing, I _was_ going to write about how this wasn't really a DIY job. After driving 10 miles to the office to get my hands on a hack-saw WITHOUT THE TORQUE ARM CONNECTED, I wasn't going to write _anything_ because this was too embarrassing.
After another hour of scraping out enough space for the hacksaw blade, I had a new-found respect for rubber. During 10 more nervewracking minutes of wondering whether I'd make a nice gouge in the torque arm while trying to cut out the bushing, I repeated the mantra "Never again, just pay the mechanic..." After I finally wrenched out the old bushing, I quickly patched up my car.
After I got home, about 1 in the morning, I thought to myself, "How hard could the other bushing be???"
