which I used on my 73 because 73's were the first year of plastic?. I took the tank to a local radiator shop and had them replace the neck and re-solder all the seams. Then I polished it to a shine.
You still might be able to find one if you can find a pre 73 sitting somewhere, but if you're planning on fabbing a stainless one, that might be your best option. Maybe you can make a bunch of them and market them, because the plastic tanks left out there won't last forever.
I just looked downstairs and pulled the plastic tank out, and it looked in excellent shape yet. My 75's is still in good shape too. If it ever starts leaking, I remember seeing another brass tank in the barn..:)
