Thanks for all your contributions. I did replace the heater core and that was the problem. FYI, for anybody that needs to amke the same repair. You need a very long, narrow, flexible screwdriver to get one (or two I forget)of the cover box screws off. Also a magnetic grabber to pick up the nut from the alternator after you drop that. Otherwise, its a pretty simple repair. Especially if you have a mechanic/coach as I do.
