Trying to remove the newer style bumpers and fitting the older cool chrome ones is possible, I know someone that did it on a 72 as well, but it is not by any means a bolt up option.....you would need a donor car that had all the mounts as they are different...and it's definately a step backward in safety....kinda like me wishing i could use my cool momo wheel, but knowing i shouldnt take the air bag wheel off to enjoy the momo..
The rubber bumpers look great when they arent all beat to hell. If you are the guy who bought the light blue 99 and brought it north, i can tell you where to get bumpers for cheap, they are still out there, but you cannot place emails up here!
Ive seen the bumpers removed and the holes filled as well on a rally car. You would definately have to check with the inspection folk in your state. Here in Mass it's a invitation to get pulled over every 3 miles. And im my humble opinion it looks silly.
if you are indeed looking for 99 stuff in new england ill check back here, as i have acess to a few , one is a 73 that would love to go to a good home for parts or restore for next to free or free.
