since a smaller pulley diameter would spin faster, thus "exciting" diodes quicker. The problem is FINDING a smaller pulley that would fit. Mine is a strange 2 piece pulley, similiar to 2 piece Porsche/VW pulleys I have seen. Bosch does not supply a pulley with its rebuilt alternators, so I use the original. My thought was it was not quite adequate for today's VRs, but I am stuck trying to find a smaller one for the alternator. A smaller pulley should over rev the alternator, because Bosch alternators are self excited, unlike alternators with a permanent magnet, so by spinning faster it shouldn't give too much voltage at higher rpms.
That's all I can figure, theory wise, but I'll have to find a smaller pulley that will fit a Bosch alternator to test it out.
