I just had to do the same thing recently. Problem is, my memory is terrible. I *think* you can just remove that little fairing on the steering column and the ground point is right there underneath. But you may have to remove the panel from under the dash (or AC ductwork if you have that). Anyway the ground is right there on or near the steering column. I seem to remember taking apart half the dashboard before I found it right in front of me. And it was loose, so tightening it made some gremlins in the instruments go away. What a pain.
Another thing to check is the wire connectors under the fuse block as well as the fuse block itself. The connectors get loose and corroded over time. Even the fuses will get some corrosion and can be "rolled" in their holders to keep them clean.
