Let's start by totally disassembling the car...Haha!....er, that's what I would do..:)
I'd be glad to offer assistance on body work stuff, but that will in no way make it fool proof. Experience is what is required.....make a mistake, learn from it. Tools are important also....ie. grinders(I have at least 7 different ones..some air, some electric), you can get a cheapo spray gun(detail gun) for like $35 at Lowe's....that's what I use for most of the small stuff. I have two different sanders, four different "blocks" for doing bondo work. A mig welder comes in handy(I used mine today as a matter of fact). A cut-off wheel works well for removing panels.
Metric wrenches and sockets are good to have.....10,11,13,14,15,17,18,19mm...the most popular Saab sizes.
