OK, so what was happening was that the electric water pump was going into vapor-lock and needed to be bled, something the 1st Saab shop was unaware of. This was also a problem they most likely introduced, although I guess if the thermostat was bad this could have caused it. However, when they replaced the thermostat thinking that perhaps that was the problem and then re-filled with coolant and didn't bleed the pump it just begain to boil over again. The first shop also re-fixed the shift linklage (what my car was originally in for)with a 900 part and a screw, which means I had to pay for this to be done again with the right parts as this fix only worked for a few miles(Which is apparently not that hard to find since SAF had 2 of them on hand. The proper way to replace the linkage was also a published fix by Saab, and thought I assumed a Saab-only shop would know this, they didn't (1st shop). I would not reccomend that anyone take their car there (Saab Replay in Berkeley). For anyone in the bay area, take your older Saab to the Swedish Auto Factory, they work on lots of old Saabs and know what they're doing.
