Hi,
This is my first message on this board, as I've very recently (like 2 days ago;-) taken the plunge into the 99 world, as well as in the saab world altogether... So sorry if what follows sound super-newbie stuff to you.

The beast I just took into my garage is a 1971 single carb 2-door, in its (fair) original-but-somewhat-rusty-and patched condition (what do you expect for less than 200 USD? hehe!). From what I've seen, it's still good enough for service after some cutting and welding. So that's where I start from... And while I'm at it, I will no doubt dive somewhat deeper and go for a 16v/5sp conversion: I want more power (wanna kick those Audi A3's asses!!) and a 5sp tranny, having seen while driving my dad's 1993 (european) 900S that motorways w/o 5th is to be quickly ruled out.

So I think I've read pretty much everything that was posted here regarding 99 16v conversion, and grabbed bits and pieces here and there to fill my notebook, but a few things still remain unclear, so here I go:

1) What are the specific issues ni converting early (I think pre 75) 99's, as most converted cars we hear about on this BB seem to be later examles? Even if you don't know solutions go ahead, I'd like to make a list before I start!
2) Do I have to plan mods on the body itself to accomodat recent parts (besides the firewall, that is)?
2) I also want to put a 900 rear axle and read that the early 99 have different rear axle mounts on the body. Can this be solved and if yes, how?
3) I've seen some pages about front suspension, brake callipers as well as driveshafts. What will or won't bolt onto my early 99?
4) I understand some 90 parts are a must? Is this also true for early 99's?

OK, I stop here or your beer's gonna be cold when you end your reading!

Lookong forward to your inputs! Seb
