Yes...last bolt off....and from inside the car. The shaft my not easily come off the rack without some convincing with a prybar.
When you re-install, I hook the steering column back to the rack, then install and tighten the pinchbolt....then re-hang the steering column, then re-install the c-clamps and tighten them. Next I do that damn boot. I think that part me over 30 minutes the other week.
Don't worry about marking anything...though if you don't count the number of threads for the outer tie-rods, then you will need to get the toe re-set. ...and if the steering wheel is crooked, don't worry about that too much cause you can pop it off in a few minutes and re-center it.
