The tranny should never get hot...so maybe that is why it isn't an issue for those that have used it. And, as with all epoxies, if the surface you use it on is contaminated with any oil, etc, it will never bond correctly. Might explain your situation. That being said, I'd always weld a tab. I dont' think I'd ever resort to using the stuff and only mentioned it as I've seen it done with success.
