Gery, If that '74 is tuned right, it will out perform that turbo with ease except on the highest top end due to gearing. If you take a'73-'74 D-jet B motor out, your down grading your ride. Forget any horsepower ratings listed by model years there are so many flavors of horsepower determinations. It's just a sales gimmick. The average new car today has a "higher" hp rating than most of the classic Muscle cars. Which do you think is faster? I was thinking about your issue overnight, and just confirmed I think, based on what you just stated you may in fact be getting fuel. Are you? The Main ground Doug mentioned pertains to only Half of the Djet System. The fuel Pump and relay are grounded by the mounting screw on the fusebox. Extremely lame! IF that ground isn't made, you can get exactly what you've been describing. Here's a fix I came up with a while back. Remove the grounding screw securing the fusebox from the inner fender. Lift up the fusebox , and there will be another hole on the same side. Clean up the metal there and make up a 6-8 inch grounding wire. Secure it with a small nut and bolt facing the same way as that grounding screw. Clean the original mounting screw mount up a re-install the fusebox looping that wire up and over the fender lip to the large gounding block just below the fusebox. I'd suggest using black wire, same gauge as those grounds going to that junction. I know those original fuel filters can be a bit trickey to get, so I'd suggest you try this First if you have fuel flow. Are You hearing your Pump whine as you turn your ignition on? If you are, This still could be the issue...the ground will cut out under load. When ever you do change the filter, cut the old one in half with a hacksaw to examine for excessive tank rust. Best of luck.
